Week 4 Preview

Division 1:

The action in division one returns Saturday evening at 5:00 when Kerry host Armagh in Tralee under lights. This game is sure to be a thriller with somewhat a small bit of pressure on Kerry following a very poor performance last weekend against Mayo. Jack O`Connor would have been fuming after that, but with more regulars returning to the fold they can get back to winning ways against a physical Armagh side. The roles of Seanie O`Shea and David Clifford could be important. This game will be shown live on RTE AT 5:00. Verdict: Kerry to win by a few points.

High-flying Mayo welcome a struggling Tyrone to town Saturday evening with a small bit of pressure on the Red Hand County after two defeats in three games, they have yet to click. There is sure to be a kick this time around as they aim to avoid a relegation battle. Mayo produced a scintillating performance against a slightly weakened Kerry team last week as they seem to be going in the right direction. There is questions to be asked if Mayo are going all out to win the league or would they settle for a mid-table finish hence, they will be playing the week after the league final. Tyrone have a decent record in the league in Castlebar and a close game is expected. This game will be shown live on TG4 at 7:00. Verdict: Tyrone to sneak a victory in a close-knitted affair.

Galway travel to Letterkenny for an early throw-in at 12:30 on Sunday with the game live on TG4. Donegal are struggling at the rear end of the table and there will be pressure on this weekend as they seek a win in front of their home fans. Galway are going well, all being they are without some of their biggest names. With home advantage, Donegal really do need to win this but it won’t be easy with Galway`s forwards looking sharp in recent weeks. Verdict: A Galway win but expect Donegal to make it close.

Monaghan will be looking to build on their win last week when they host top of the table, Roscommon. Not many people expected the Rossies to be up there challenging as they were hot favourites to be relegated at the start of the campaign. Davy Burke seems to be getting the best out of this bunch as they are looking more solid defensively compared to recent years. Monaghan are looking under pressure although they produced a solid performance last week with a comfortable win against fellow Ulster men, Donegal. It looks like Roscommon are putting a marker down as they aim to win silverware. Verdict: Roscommon to continue their winning ways.

Division 2:

Dublin welcome Clare to Croke Park Saturday evening at 7:00. Clare are a team punching well above their weight, but against the Dubs, they will be out of their dept. Verdict: A comfortable Dublin win. Kildare got out of jail last weekend with a one-point victory in Ennis, as they host high-flying Derry to Newbridge. There’s a lot of pressure on Glenn Ryans's men but Derry seem to operating at a higher level. Verdict: A Derry win but it won’t be one way traffic. Meath host Louth in an all-Leinster clash. Meath suffered a heavy loss last week against Derry and surely they will be looking to better that performance. Verdict: A Meath win. Cork were unlucky last Sunday against Dublin and this week they welcome Munster neighbors Limerick to Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Verdict: Cork to win in comfortable fashion against a struggling Limerick side.

Division 3:

Saturday afternoon sees the all-Ulster clash of Antrim and Fermanagh. Last week saw Fermanagh pip Down in the last minute while Antrim displayed an excellent win away to Tipperary. Verdict: Home advantage to come in here and help Antrim get the win. Down welcome Westmeath to Newry Saturday evening in what is expected to be a close affair. Verdict: Down to enhance their promotion bid with a narrow win. Struggling Tipperary go to Longford in search for a needed win. This is sure to be a cagey spectacle with both sides needing a victory as they both remain without a win. Verdict: Longford to just nick it. High-flying Cavan go up against Offaly in Tullamore in search of four wins from four. Offaly are no bad side but Cavan are looking to be operating at a slightly higher level. Verdict: Cavan to win by a few points.

Division 4:

Bottom of the table Waterford host mid-table Wexford this weekend with Waterford looking to be up against it this campaign. Verdict: Wexford to win at a canter. Top of the table Laois welcome Oisin Mc Convilles Wicklow to Portlaoise Saturday evening with Laois aiming for promotion. Verdict: Laois to win by a slender margin. Sligo fly over to London this weekend as they look to build on their satisfactory start to the league. London will be up against it this time around. Verdict: A comfortable win for Sligo. Andy Moran`s Lwitrim side welcome Carlow to Carrick On Shannon as they look to bounce back from a disappointing result last week against Wexford. Verdict: Leitrim to use home advantage and gain another win.
